Innovation by creativity and cooperation

The sponsoring association Laser-Laboratorium Göttingen was founded in 1987 in the form of a registered association which since that time has run the institute (LLG) as a non-profit making special-purpose enterprise, being institutionally supported by the State of Lower Saxony.

The statutory object “Promotion of laser research“ is successfully being realized by means of applied pure research and the knowledge transfer between research institutions and trade and industry in form of research assignments, counselling, scientific expertises, trainings as well as by services rendered and is being documented by a large number of publications.

The departements of the LLG:

With their research projects and developments in various fields of physics, the LLG divisions have gained acceptance worldwide. This acceptance is expressed by a multitude of international co-operations and development orders by research institutions, small businesses and affiliated groups from the most important industrial locations of the world. It also generates synergies, however, between University, the institutes of the Max-Planck corporation and the industry of precision mechanics and optics resident in the region. The research activities range from the development of non-contacting laser measurement engineering for environmentally relevant areas to product processing, the manufacturing of new products by using lasers and the development of new laser systems. Freely selected research and development results are being marketed by discincorporated companies as well as by LLG GmbH or distributed under licence. Further developments made within these companies flow back to LLG, thus pushing the research ahead with big steps. This does also lead to the development of new fields of action for physicists.

LLG thus contributes to the safeguarding of the scientific and industrial location of Lower Saxony. The scientific commission summarized the successful evaluation as follows:
