Department "Laser-Plasma-Hybridtechnology"For Germany as a location for high tech products, the plasma technology is one of the major key technologies. This is shown for example in the latest development programs where plasma technology advances to a scientific research emphasis. Combined with other technologies, plasma technology is a key to scientific-technical progress, an ability to act innovatively as well as to technological know-how. With scientific research in this field, doors can be opened for solutions which have a promising future through they are both ecologically efficient and easy to integrate. A major contribution can be made to satisfy the future need for products and processes which are friendly to our environment and resources. Owing to the wide possibilities to use the combination of laser technology and plasma technology in growing industries as the electrical industry, construction of vehicles, machines and tools, optics and technology for energy, textiles, environment and medicine as well as bioengineering, sustainable and innovative solutions can be found. At the Laser-Laboratorium Göttingen, this huge potential has been recognized in good time. In the new department for laser plasma hybrid technology, new fields for applications in lots of scientific research areas are about to be developed. A special attention is directed to atmospheric pressure plasma, which have the convincing qualities of efficiency, flexibility and process control. Due to the interdisciplinary cooperation of plasma technology and laser technology with experts for biology, chemistry, medicine and physics (especially for photonics), innovative processes are explored which can be developed to products for various fields of application. The main emphasis is put on the following segments:
